Polka Workshops 2024
Description
The Polka design is an original and classic Okayok style - this time, on a tote bag OR a throw pillow for your home! In this workshop, we provide all the materials and equipment for you to design and print your own tote or pillow case. You'll get to select your own palette - 16 shades for regular totes, 20 shades for XL totes and 25 shades for pillowcases. Choose from dozens of options of pre-cut circles in neons, neutrals, brights, pastels, sparkle and velvet. We'll help you heat press them onto your selected tote!
We have the option available for you to bring your own 20" pillow cover. It needs to be made of natural fibres and have no other embellishments. Cotton velvet would be fabulous if you want to try these ones here. Reach out if you want to check if your pillow cover will work.
The class is open to adults and children ages 7 and up. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is per tote or pillow, not per person, so working on a project together is okay!
The project will take 45 min to 1.5 hours and you will leave the class with your finished project.
About the Tote Bags
Choose your size ahead of time and at the workshop you'll be able to choose between black or natural. Totes are made of 12 oz 100% cotton heavy canvas. The standard totes are 14” wide, 16” tall, and have a 3" depth. Handles are 24" webbing. XL Totes are 20” wide x 14” tall with a 7” square bottom and 22" canvas straps.
About the Pillow Cases
Pillow cases are made of 12 oz 100% cotton heavy canvas. They are sewn in the Okayok studio and the canvas is washed and pre-shrunk before cutting and sewing.
Our Space
The workshop takes place either on the main floor or the second floor of the OkayOk studio at 40 Sousa Mendes Street in Toronto.
Our work tables are standing height and we have tall stools which will be provided for seating - guests may choose to sit or stand while they create their tote.
Accomodations can be made for any accessibility needs.
FAQs
Do I have to know anything about vinyl or a heat press?
Not at all. You just need to be comfortable using scissors. We will take care of all heat pressing during the class.
Can I decorate both sides of my tote or pillow case?
Polka Pillow designs are for one side of the tote or pillow case.
Cancellation Policy
Please notify us within 24 hours of your workshop if you need to cancel. The workshop cost is non-refundable, but you may choose an alternate date in the future. You forfeit the cost of the workshop if you cancel within less than 24 hours, or don't show up for your class.
If a situation arises where we need to cancel a class, you will be offered a refund or an alternative date to attend.
